AMD Ryzen 7 4800H surpasses Intel Core i7-9700K desktop CPU in Time Spy benchmark

We know that AMD Ryzen 4000 mobile APUs are great for laptops and with increasing laptops featuring these APUs we are getting a look of the power of these processors. The next OEM will be Lenovo, who is bragging about the capabilities of its Ryzen 4000U-series processors.

The company did already announce the fact that they will be upgrading a lot of ThinkPad laptops with the new Ryzen 4000 series APUs. Now the company has offered an insight into how the Ryzen 7 4800U and Ryzen 5 4600U APUs perform on their system.

Lenovo has claimed that the Ryzen 5 4600U can average around 1,300 points in Cinebench R15 Multi which is pretty good for a 6 core and 12 threaded APU on a laptop, powerful than any other mid-range Intel CPU.

On the other hand, Lenovo has claimed that the 8 core Ryzen 7 4800U can score over 1,550 points in the same benchmark which directly competes against the Intel Core i9-9980H. The company also plans to use the Ryzen 4000H gaming APUs on their upcoming Legion gaming laptops as well.

Lenovo stresses the fact that these scores are for reference only, not only these scores were achieved on engineering samples, but possibly also on performance modes. Even though we can assume to be getting a 20% performance decrease in general conditions, still, these 6- and 8-core Ryzen 4000-U series APUs perform great in the new laptops.

The laptop manufacturer seems has made an interesting marketing poster, depicting a dragon representing an eight threaded processor submitting to a sixteen threaded one.

Lenovo has achieved these scores on a Xiaoxin Pro 13, a laptop series that the company does not sell in most of the markets. However, the scores on the Pro 13 looks impressive and can be equivalent to the ThinkBook and IdeaPad series. So, we can expect to see the Ryzen 4000-U series processors on other Lenovo laptops anytime soon.
