The South Korean giant, Samsung has worked with the Taiwanese semiconductor giant MediaTek to create the world’s first 8K TV with Wi-Fi 6 support. The new Samsung 8K QLED Y20 models (Q950, Q900) support the new Wi-Fi standard and is equipped with MediaTek’s custom Wi-Fi 6 chipset.
Being an 8K TV, this is the flagship viewing experience by Samsung and this will be the only globally available Wi-Fi 6 connectivity supporting TV. The Samsung 8K QLED Y20 not only offers a better viewing experience but also a better view of multimedia consumption through better connectivity.
Wi-Fi 6 is the latest Wi-Fi connectivity standard that has greater improvements from the previous generation, allowing higher transmission speeds while saving on power. The latest connectivity feature on this high-resolution TV makes 8K streaming experience a lot more seamless.
The collaboration between the number 1 chipmaker of Wi-Fi 6 chips being found in smart TVs and routers along with consumer electronics giant brings a new standard of media consumption. We can expect more such collaborations between Samsung and MediaTek in more such TVs in future.
