Cristiano Ronaldo will be receiving an £850,000 bonus following his match-winning hat-trick against Norwich City in the Premier League. The report comes from the Sun, who state that the number 7 has triggered several clauses in his contract.
The Portuguese icon scored his 50th club hat-trick to help Manchester United win 3-2 against the Canaries and stay in the race for the top four.
Ronaldo’s bonus includes £750,000 for reaching 20 goals this season, and £100,000 for the hat-trick he scored. From now until the end of the season, he will be receiving £100,000 for every goal he scores for Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo set to receive big bonuses by the end of the season
With 21 goals this season, Cristiano Ronaldo is Manchester United’s highest goalscorer. He is 12 goals clear of Bruno Fernandes, the second-highest goalscorer for the club. As a result, it is almost certain that he will receive a £1 million bonus should he finish as the club’s top goalscorer at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old will be earning £2.75 million in total if he hits the 30-goal mark by the end of the season.
Manchester United’s performance this season has not been up to the standards that have been set for them. And despite the strong criticism for Cristiano Ronaldo, he is one of the main reasons why they are still around the Champions League spots at this stage of the season.
