IPL 2022: Rohit Sharma scores 10,000 runs in T20 cricket becoming the second Indian to achieve this feat

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma became the second Indian and seventh batter in the world to cross 10,000 runs in Men’s T20 cricket. He achieved this feat in a group stage match played between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match.

On Wednesday, Rohit got off to a positive start, chasing 199 against Punjab Kings. The MI skipper had been in woeful form in the new season, managing just 80 runs in 4 matches as MI got off to a horror start, remaining winless after 4 games. Indian batter Rohit Sharma was short of just 25 runs when he started playing the innings on April 13 (Wednesday) against Punjab Kings. He surpassed the mark in just 16 balls with a six against pacer Kagiso Rabada.

Rohit Sharma’s teammate Virat Kohli was the first Indian to cross 10,000 T20 runs in IPL 2021. Virat became the fifth player in the world to achieve this feat and Aaron Finch was the next player before Rohit Sharma.

Chris Gayle is the first player to cross 10,000 runs in T20

West Indies opener Chris Gayle who’s also known as the Universal Boss became the first cricketer to achieve this landmark. He’s to date the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket by mustering a total of 14,562 runs in 463 games

Pakistani Cricketer Shoaib Malik is the next who scored 11,698 runs. West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard 11,474, Finch 10,499, Kohli 10,379 and David Warner 10,373 make up the list of players above Rohit.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is the third-highest run-scorer of IPL with 5719 runs in 213 innings. Shikhar Dhawan comes next with 5981 runs in 196 innings. However, they are all behind King Kohli who has a total of 6390 runs in his pocket in 204 innings.
