AMD’s Radeon RX 6400 GPUs to soon be available for retail

AMD stated when it unveiled its Navi 24 graphics processing unit and Radeon RX 6400 and 6500 XT graphics cards that the former would be offered solely to OEMs. Then, in March, it was reported that AMD was planning to release the Radeon RX 6400 in the channel and retail sectors.

While there are no official assurances that the Radeon RX 6400 will be available in stores, evidence suggests that Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte, and MSI are all working on retail versions.

The Asus Dual Radeon RX 6400 4G (Dual-RX6400-4G) graphics card is listed for 562.20 Bulgarian Levs ($260 without VAT) on a Bulgarian retailer’s website(opens in new tab). The card contains 4GB of memory and a dual-fan cooling mechanism, as the name suggests (which is typically two slots wide). Unfortunately, BestPC.bg does not have this card in stock and does not even provide a photo of it, leaving us to speculate on when (and if) Asus will begin selling it. Meanwhile, given the card has a component number, it’s safe to assume that Asus is selling it to its partners.

In early February, a filing in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) customs database revealed that ASRock’s Radeon RX 6400 Challenger ITX was likely the first custom RX 6400 board. Despite this, no merchant has yet been listed on the board.

According to a filing with the South Korean National Radio Research Agency (RRA), which certifies electronics sold in the nation, Gigabyte is supposedly prepping its Radeon RX 6400 Eagle graphics card with 4GB of memory onboard. The board also has the part number GV-R64EAGLE-4GD, indicating that it is a Radeon RX 6400 with an added ‘Eagle’ name.

The name implies that the board has a characteristic that distinguishes it from a standard OEM-oriented board, albeit we can only speculate on what that feature is. It may be a more complex cooling system (like the one found on Gigabyte’s Radeon RX 6500 XT Eagle) or faster clocks, for example. OEMs, on the other hand, do not require such distinguishing features, so the board is aimed at the channel/retail market.

MSI has already started selling Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX graphics card in Singapore

MSI has secretly begun selling their Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX graphics card in Singapore, which is based on a scaled-down version of AMD’s Navi 24 GPU. The device is compatible with Mini-ITX and other compact systems (excluding low-profile systems) that can accommodate a dual-slot board and requires no additional power connectors.

The Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX graphics card from MSI features 4GB of GDDR6 RAM, a 64-bit interface, and two display outputs: DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. The bard has a Mini-ITX design, however, it includes a dual-slot single-fan cooling system, which may limit it from fitting into some smaller chassis. AMD’s Radeon RX 6400, on the other hand, does not require any external power. As a result, the graphics card could be useful for upgrades or repairing outdated OEM systems that rely on the power supply without supplementary PCIe power ports.

According to a listing on Carousell.sg spotted by @momomo us, the MSI Radeon RX 6400 Aero ITX card is presently available for S$349 (approximately $240 without VAT) from a retailer in Kim Hoe Centre.
