Gareth Bale will be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season, when his contract expires. The player’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has confirmed the Welshman’s imminent exit, as the club will not be renewing his contract any further.

Bale has found himself on the bench and out of Carlo Ancelotti’s side for the majority of the season. However, he impressed for his country in their latest international break, scoring two goals to help them win their World Cup qualifying game.

Regarding the lack of game time at Madrid, Barnett confirmed that it is Ancelotti’s decision to leave him out: “You have to ask Ancelotti why he doesn’t play,” he said. “It is not Gareth Bale’s decision. I cannot criticise Ancelotti but it is his decision.”

Bale will leave Real Madrid on a free. His agent Jonathan Barnett tells @DeportesCuatro: “Bale deserves a grand farewell by the club, Florentino has always supported him” ⚪️ #RealMadrid

The agent confirmed Bale’s imminent departure as follows:

“He’s been very happy In Madrid, he arrived as a young man, his children were born there, he has donated a lot of money to Spanish hospitals for COVID (half a million) and he loves the city and the club. I think the parasites are the ones who speak ill of him.”

“Bale deserves a grand farewell from the club. And no, we have not yet decided on the future,” Barnett continued.

“The president [Perez] has behaved very well and has been very loyal and has supported him.

“In the next 20 years the fans will see how good Bale was, and they will regret it.”

The 32-year-old has been the subject of constant criticism from the Spanish media, owing to his large salary, and lack of playing time. However, he has turned up for Wales whenever they need him, and is hopeful of guiding them to their first World Cup since 1958.
