Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag has recently been interviewed a second time by Manchester United. Their board considers him the favourite to replace Ralf Rangnick permanently starting next season.
Manchester United have made contact with the Dutch champions and has inquired about the compensation fee that they would charge for Erik Ten Hag.
The compensation that Ajax would demand their head coach is reportedly around £1.6 million. Any staff member that Erik Ten Hag decides to bring over to Old Trafford would also cost compensation, which would push the total amount closer to £2 million.
Erik Ten Hag leads the race for the United hot seat next season
But while Ten Hag is a solid option that the board is considering, other candidates are also in the list. Mauricio Pochettino of PSG is one of the other main contenders in the race for the managerial position starting next season.
Zinedine Zidane is expected to replace the Argentinian at the end of the season at the Parc de Princes. And given his previous experience in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton, he could be recruited by Manchester United as well.
Owing to their recent difficulties, United are taking their time and is conducting a thorough process before finalising their next manager. The club has had to go five years without winning a single trophy after years of dominating English football. And with their new head coach, they will be hopeful of returning to the top of domestic and European competitions.
