Barcelona were recently linked with a surprise transfer for Kylian Mbappe in the summer. However, those rumours have been put to rest now, with sources close to the club declining any talks with the Frenchman.
Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires in the summer, and he hasn’t agreed to a new deal with the Parisians yet. While they have tried to tie him down with a new contract on several occasions, the player has refused to reach an agreement.
With Joan Laporta ruling out any crazy signings for summer 2022, it is very unlikely that Mbappe will be a Barcelona player next season.
Kylian Mbappe restricted to Real Madrid or PSG
But while Kylian Mbappe hasn’t committed to Paris Saint-Germain yet, he could still extend his contract with them. He has been vocal about his happiness to play for the French giants in the past.
The France international has also stated that he dreams of playing for Real Madrid. And, he could make the switch in the summer as a free agent. Madrid have tried to sign the player in the past as well, with their most recent bid being worth €200 million last summer. But, Nasser Al-Khelaifi rejected multiple bids for the player to try and keep him.
And now, the QSI-owned club will be losing their star forward for no transfer fee if he chooses to join Real Madrid. As of right now, he is focused on the rest of the season with PSG, where they are at the top of Ligue 1.
