Barcelona are gearing up for an impressive summer transfer window, having reached a verbal agreement with Andreas Christensen from Chelsea already. Xavi and his team are planning a massive overhaul, which could see talent added in almost every position.
But right now, it seems like Xavi is focusing on the defense, and is bringing in players to reinforce the backline accordingly. After Christensen, Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta is on the radar of the club for a free transfer in the summer.
Key transfers in the works for Barcelona
Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui is the next transfer target that Barcelona are looking at in the summer. The defender is out of a contract when the season is over, and has already been approached by the Barca scouts.
In midfield, AC Milan’s Franck Kessie is the most strongly linked prospect. The Rossoneri have clarified that they don’t have an agreement with Kessie as of yet, and are not willing to improve their offer. If Barca can match the agent fees that the player has, they can secure his arrival in the future as well.
After the arrival of Ferran Torres, Adama Traore and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January window, Barcelona are eyeing up one more attacker to set them up for the future – Erling Haaland.
While Xavi hasn’t confirmed talks with Erling Haaland yet, he hasn’t ruled them out either. So, the Norwegian striker might be on his way to Camp Nou for a huge transfer fee, if Joan Laporta is able to strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund and the player’s agent.
