Manchester United have completed the signing of Toby Collyer from the Brighton youth academy. The youngster has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Red Devils and will be training with their youth team to potentially feature at the senior level in the future.

Toby Collyer plays as a defensive midfielder, and has been quite impressive in his appearances in 21/22. The youngster captained the England national team at the Under-16 and Under-17 level. He has also featured for the national team at the Under-19 level.

The United academy has a history of bringing forth some very exciting talent through to the first team. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Scott McTominay and Jesse Lingard have emerged as some of the top academy graduates for the Red Devils in recent years.

The youngster hasn’t featured much at the club level, and so, it is difficult to accurately determine his strengths and weaknesses. However, he has been deemed as one of the best young midfielders for England, and can establish himself as one of the best in the coming years.

The senior team is in need of a defensive midfielder right now, but Collyer is too young to feature in the Premier League midfield right now. So, a few months or years into development would potentially set the former Brighton youth player up to break into the first team and make a name for himself.
