Everton has suspended all their Russian partnerships owing to the armed invasion of Ukraine. The club has confirmed their decision, and will no longer wear the names of their Russian sponsors on their kit.

The decision has cost them roughly £500,000 and sees them cut ties with USM, owned by oligarch Alisher Usmanov, Megafon, and Yota. The club has also released an official statement confirming the same.

“Everyone at Everton remains shocked and saddened by the appalling events unfolding in Ukraine,” the club said in a statement.

Despite the statements, Everton has not condemned the actions of Vladimir Putin in Russia. However, their support for Ukraine remains public as of now. The board has also offered full support to their Ukrainian player, Vitaliy Mykolenko in these trying times.

The left-back was signed from Dynamo Kyiv in the winter transfer window as a replacement for Lucas Digne. He shared a touching moment with fellow Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko ahead of their game against Manchester City.

Frank Lampard’s club is currently hovering above the relegation zone, only one point ahead of Burnley.
