On its Chinese website, graphics card and tiny PC specialist Zotac has featured a trio of new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti desktop graphics cards. These, however, are based on the Nvidia GA103 GPU, according to Twitter tech detective momo mo us. The GA104 GPU has been used in all known RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards.

Nvidia’s GA103 first caught our attention as a laptop for the new GeForce RTX 3080 Ti mobile GPU, which began shipping after CES 2022. The GA103 was first seen later in January. A sysinfo tool update around the same time hinted at a new version of the desktop GeForce RTX 3060 Ti in development with the same chip.

Furthermore, it is a larger die than the previous RTX 3060 Ti with GA104. Nvidia looks to be harvesting GPU dies with too many non-functional cores to meet the requirements for the RTX 3080 Ti laptop processor.

It’s tough to give a firm response, but we expect the same level of performance for standard configurations. Aside from that, the larger die may allow the new GA103-based cards to clock a little faster. On that point, we’ll have to wait and see. Of course, the GA103-based models aren’t intended to replace existing GA104 models; instead, they’re designed to supplement supplies, and the GA103 cards may be limited to Asian markets.

  • Zotac GeForce RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 X-GAMING GOC-X with Base 1410 MHz /  Boost: 1680 MHz,
  • Zotac GeForce RTX 3060Ti-8GD6 PGF GOC-X with Base: 1410 MHz /  Boost: 1725 MHz

The new variants are all suffixed with “GOC-X,” making them easy to recognise among the throngs of Zotac-branded RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards on the official product sites. The graphics processor is described as “GeForce RTX 3060Ti (GA103-200)” on the updated product specs pages. On the other hand, the new models have no spec boosts over their non-X suffixed counterparts. They all have LHR restrictions as well.
