Barcelona are interested in going all-in for Erling Haaland in the summer. The Norwegian is currently out injured, but is expected to move on from Borussia Dortmund soon. Their Europa League hopes are hanging by a thread this season, and they are still behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
The striker has a €75 million release clause in his contract that becomes valid starting from June 2022. And as of yet, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City have been strongly linked with him.
Barcelona’s plans for Erling Haaland
According to reports, Haaland is looking for a better sporting project instead of a big salary. This is something that Barcelona can offer him over Real Madrid, since the Blaugrana are currently in a rebuilding phase with several young talents coming into the fold.
The likes of Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Ansu Fati have already made their mark, and Haaland could be an addition to the team of exceptional youngsters.
Alongside a sporting project, Barcelona are also looking to make Erling Haaland the best-paid player in their squad if he joins. A wage package worth €20 million per season has been tabled for the Norwegian if he chooses to make the move to Camp Nou.
Joan Laporta believes that signing Haaland will help the club re-establish themselves in the digital space. They are hopeful of earning big profits through shirt sales if they are able to sign the forward too. As a result, the Borussia Dortmund star could solve matters on and off the pitch for the club.
