Hyderabad FC defeated Bengaluru FC 2-1 in the ISL, ending their unbeaten run. Here are the three talking points from the game.
Frustrating night for Bengaluru FC
After going 2-0 down in the first half, BFC came out firing on all fronts in the second period. While they performed much better and created many more chances, there was a lack of clinical finishing. The majority of their efforts were off target, and that ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the game.
While they were unable to level things up, a late consolation goal from Sunil Chhetri took away the clean sheet from HFC.
The undefeated streak comes to an end
Bengaluru FC had not tasted defeat since December until their game against Hyderabad. After struggling in the first half of the season, they launched a remarkable comeback in the winter. This included wins over Mumbai City FC and Kerala Blasters and a draw against ATK Mohun Bagan.
But after two months of results in their favour, they have finally been conquered by the league leaders.
Hyderabad FC continue moving towards title
With a big win against Bengaluru FC, Hyderabad FC are now four points clear off Jamshedpur FC, albeit with two more games played. If they want to ensure the title for themselves, they will need to win their last four matches as well. They will also need one of their challengers to slip up again to reduce the points gap since there are games yet to be played.
