They plan to keep the tradition going in 2022
Since its release in 2017, Fortnite has been extremely popular due to epic games. According to a financial document revealed by The Verge, the game was the biggest source of revenue for its creator – Epic Games – in its first two years. During the ongoing Epic Games vs. Apple legal battle, the document was made public.
According to the document, Epic Games made more than $9 billion in revenue from Fortnite in 2018 and 2019, including $5.5 billion in its first year. During the same two-year period, the video game company produced a profit of more than $5.5 billion.
With frequent updates and exciting additional content, Epic Games has managed to keep Fortnite gamers engaged. By November 2018, the game had surpassed 350 million registered users globally.
The Epic Games Store is known for its frequent free game releases, and the business stated in a blog post that it will keep doing so in 2022. Epic has previously provided noteworthy free titles, such as Control, Civilization VI, and even the store-crashing Grand Theft Auto V, so it appears probable that the studio will do so again this year.
Epic also stated that its shop now has over 194 million users, an increase of 34 million over the previous year. Because Valve hasn’t released its own year-end Steam numbers, it’s difficult to say how well Epic is competing. However, comparing peak concurrent user counts shows Epic still has a long way to go. Epic recorded a high of 13.2 million concurrent users, but Valve’s Steam stats page now shows a high of nearly 27 million users in just the last 48 hours.
EPIC GAMES HAS ALSO PROMISED ADDITIONAL STORE FEATURES:
Epic has promised that it will continue to add features to the store, following the long-awaited release of a shopping cart in December. Profiles will be added, as well as the ability for players to prioritise downloads and enhancements to the Epic Games Launcher’s speed and performance.
Epic Games announced Thursday that the Epic Games Store now features a shopping cart, allowing you to purchase numerous games in a single transaction. The functionality is available just over three years after the store’s launch in December 2018.
You’ll notice a “Add to Cart” button while shopping on the website, which allows you to, well, add stuff to your cart. According to Epic’s blog, you’ll be able to put both free and premium titles in your basket at the same time, making it a “all-in-one buying spree.” You may also use the “Buy Now” option to bypass the cart. And if you don’t want to buy something right now, you can always add it to your wishlist.
Epic Games continues to give free games every week, and this will make claiming them for your account a little easier. Epic is supposed to be giving out 15 free games for the holidays starting next week, so the new cart could arrive just in time (and for any last-minute holiday shopping).
Meanwhile, the excellent Tetris Effect is on sale for 35 percent off on the Epic Games Store until December 11th at 11 a.m. ET.
