Anthony Martial is all set to fly to Spain and sign for Sevilla until the end of the season. The La Liga title contenders have signed Martial on a loan deal until the end of the season, with no option to buy.
The Frenchman was on his way out of the club, after his agent publicly announced that Martial wanted to leave the club. Sevilla made several attempts to sign the player before, but they were discouraged by Manchester United’s demands. The Premier League club wanted £5 million as a loan fee alongside his full salary paid for.
Anthony Martial ends transfer saga with Sevilla move imminent
The 26-year-old has only started two games this season, after falling out of favour due to the vast number of attacking options available at the club. His time on the pitch has been increasingly limited, with his latest appearance being from the bench against West Ham United.
There was a misunderstanding between Ralf Rangnick and Anthony Martial as well, as the Frenchman was not a part of the matchday squad for United’s game against Aston Villa. However, that was sorted out between the two afterwards.
Juventus and Newcastle United were also interested in signing the player, but Sevilla have ultimately won the race for their target. They will pay his £150,000-a-week salary until the end of the season, alongside a €6 million loan fee.
Jesse Lingard could also be on his way out of the club before the end of the season, with Newcastle United interested in signing the player in the winter window itself.
