BCCI Secretary Jay Shah declared that the IPL 2022 will start from the last week of March most probably from March 27 and will continue till May in India. The Covid is on rising but the franchise owners desire the IPL to be held in India. The league’s potential venue is Mumbai without the crowd.
Jay Shah released an official statement stating, “I am delighted to confirm that the 15th season of the IPL will start in the last week of March and will run until May end. A majority of the team owners expressed their wish that the tournament be held in India. The BCCI was always keen on staging the 2022 edition that will see two new teams – Ahmedabad and Lucknow – in India,”
Mega Auction dates
Jay Shah validated February 12 and 13 as the confirmed dates for the Mega Auction. Further, he said that BCCI will ensure safety so that the IPL can stay in India. The BCCI has never compromised on the health and safety of its stakeholders in past and is ready to work on Plan B if the Covid 19 situation doesn’t improve. Before the Mega Auction takes place, Jay Shetty and the other officials will be locking the venues for the 15th edition of the tournament.
The IPL player registration has closed on January 20. As per reports, there have been 1,214 registrations for the 2022 player auction.
In the two-day mega auction, 10 teams will be bidding for the cricketers in IPL. The two-day mega auction will see 10 teams bidding for some of the finest talents in world cricket. The players’ list incorporates 270 capped, 903 uncapped, and 41 Associate players.
