Bengaluru FC won the last game of 2021 against Chennaiyin FC by a 4-2 margin. Here are the three key talking points from the six-goal game.
Bengaluru FC win their first game since day one
The last time Bengaluru FC came out as the winning side was in their first game of the tournament, against NorthEast United FC, also by a 4-2 scoreline. Over a month later, they have managed to produce the right result again to end the year on a high note.
Chennaiyin FC miss chance to break into top four
BFC has not been at their best this year, and Chennaiyin were the stronger team heading into the fixture. Naturally, they were expected to come out with a win. Taking all three points would’ve helped them end the year within the top four.
But, they were outscored by their opponents and now have to fight back from sixth place.
Cleiton Silva stars again for BFC
The 34-year-old has been the most prolific attacker for Bengaluru FC this season, and his contributions yesterday helped the team earn all three points. He is their highest scorer, with five goals from nine games, and also provided the assist for Alan Costa’s goal right before half time.
Bengaluru FC will have the chance to climb further up the table when they take on SC East Bengal in their next game. Chennaiyin, on the other hand, have a high profile clash against Jamshedpur right after the turn of the year.
