Newcastle United are in the market for at least one or two centre-backs in the January transfer window. The Magpies can work with a decent transfer budget during the upcoming window and are looking to bolster their defense to avoid the drop.
Botman was previously featured for Ajax, and spent a year on loan at Heerenveen before moving to Lille in France. The centre-back signed a five-year deal with the defending Ligue 1 champions and made the move for €8 million.
He is valued at €30 million on Transfermarkt and has a number of years left on his current deal. So, it is difficult for the Premier League club to get him on the cheap. With that in mind, they have a number of options listed down.
But, Lille are still waiting for the final price tag for Sven Botman before making their decision. The likes of AC Milan, Sevilla, Wolves and Atalanta are also interested in signing the player.
What else are Newcastle United looking for?
Being the most valuable club in the world, Newcastle United have no shortage of funds. The club is currently last in the table and need to find a way to survive. They are hence turning to the transfer market to bolster their squad and find a solution.
The team is also looking for a reputed right-back in the January window to complete their defense and survive the drop. But even with new additions to the team, they will need a massive turnaround to survive in the Premier League.
