Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will get Slayer, Fiesta, Free-For-All, and Tactical Slayer (SWAT) playlists on December 14, according to 343 Industries, as well as changes to make challenges less frustrating.

Brian Jarrard, Halo’s community director, announced the news on Reddit, confirming that the much-anticipated Slayer playlist will be available to all Spartans soon. “The team’s initial plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren’t going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break,” Jarrard explains. In the meantime, players will be able to enjoy a “basic Slayer offering to begin with, and [the team] will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update,” according to the developer.

Along with the new playlists, 343 is tweaking challenges to remove “some extremely annoying mode-specific ones, reduce some prerequisites for others, make the weekly ultimate challenge less intense (getting there is difficult enough), and add brand new challenges related to the new playlists.”

There will even be one that is “based on accumulating player score” and is a “first step toward ‘performance-based XP.'” On next week’s Halo Waypoint, 343 will go into greater detail about these changes.

Jarrard also wanted to inform Halo Infinite players that the team is “aware and actively investigating reports of intermittent hiccups affecting some players in BTB over the last few days,” according to the post. It’s also keeping an eye on Ranked matchmaking as well as “player feedback on potential anomalies.”

One of the few problems we and many others had about Halo Infinite’s otherwise “amazing modern version of gaming’s most esteemed first-person shooters” was the lack of dedicated playlists.
