Blue Origin reports its third successful crewed space trip

Blue Origin has completed its third crewed space trip. The flight was historic since it was the first time Blue Origin flew with all six passengers on board. Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-19 was supposed to take off on December 9, but bad weather forced the flight to be rescheduled for Saturday morning.

Laura Shepard Churchley, the oldest daughter of NASA astronaut Alan Shepard, the first NASA astronaut to go in space, was among the six passengers. His spacecraft, the New Shepard, is named after him.

Dylan Taylor is the chairman and CEO of Voyager Space, a space exploration business. He is also a co-founding supporter of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation and the NGO Space for Humanity. Lane Bess is the founder of Bess Ventures and Advisory, a tech-focused venture fund. Lane was accompanied by his son, Cameron Bess, who is characterized as a Twitch variety streamer.

Evan Dick is a volunteer pilot for Starfighters Aerospace as well as an engineer and inventor. Outside of William Shatner and founder Jeff Bezos, Michael Strahan is a Super Bowl-winning former NFL player and television celebrity who has been transported to space by Blue Origin.

According to Space.com, Churchley and Strahan flew as Blue Origin guests, while the rest of the passengers had to pay for their tickets. The mission appeared to have gone off without a hitch. As a spectator, what strikes me as astounding after watching numerous of these is how quickly the whole process is gone. The main rocket trip lasts around two and a half minutes, and the astronauts only have three minutes of zero gravity before needing to strap back in for the descent. It takes just over 10 minutes from start to end.
