Apple launched the A15 Bionic chip earlier this September with the iPhone 13 family as it usually does, but we are yet to see Qualcomm’s competing solution, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Early benchmark results are now out and they suggest that the hype around the new SoC’s new Adreno GPU may be justified.
Renowned tipster IceUniverse shared a couple of screenshots displaying how Apple’s A15 Bionic and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are trading blows in multiple GPU tests.
There has been no statistically meaningful difference in the GFXBench T Rex offscreen test but in the Manhattan offscreen ES 3.0 test, Qualcomm’s contender got 267 frames, nearly 24% higher than Apple silicon.
In the 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited run, though, the Snapdragon got a 12% lower score.
This is the first time in a while that Qualcomm’s chip may be able to match Apple’s hardware and even beat it in terms of sheer processing power.
But of course, there is a need for more tests to say for sure if the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip will beat Apple for the first place as the best chipset.
