NorthEast United defeated FC Goa in their first win of the season, with a 2-1 scoreline. Here are the three key talking points from the game.

The Highlight Reel

NorthEast United opened the scoring early, with Roccharzela totally unmarked on his run. Their lead would only last three minutes, with Jesuraj tapping it in from close range for FC Goa.

Khassa Camara would score an absolute screamer in the final minutes of the game to earn all three points, in what will be a contender for the goal of the season. Mathias Coureur also had a chance to do the same, with his effort from the halfway line hitting the post.

NorthEast Earn First Win

With Camara’s late goal, NorthEast have earned their first three points of the season. And they fully deserved to win the game, creating a host of close chances throughout. When FC Goa were on the attack, they were rather comfortable sitting in their own box and blocking all of the efforts on goal.

A number of key saves from Subhasish Chowdhury also helped them find the win at the end of the 90.

Disappointed FC Goa Still Winless

But despite losing the game, Goa have a lot to be proud of. The first goal was a defensive lapse, but things improved from there. Despite being at the bottom of the table, the team were willing to attack their opponents wholeheartedly.

They had almost earned their first point of the season before Camara’s wonder goal took that away. If they can build on this performance, you can sense that their first win or point is just around the corner.
