Various publications have constantly stated that Apple intends to release its augmented reality headgear around 2022, while the timeframe remains inconsistent. The most recent update focuses on its performance, with one reputable expert predicting that the ambitious product will contain two processors, one of which will be capable of delivering performance comparable to the M1 chip.

Apple’s augmented reality headgear, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman projected that the same product will be released next year, meaning that it would be targeted to a small fraction of global customers due to its high price tag. While Kuo has not commented on the possible pricing of the AR headset, he does indicate that it will include two CPUs.

One chip will be in charge of the most demanding jobs, and it will give processing capability comparable to the M1. Sensor-related computations will be assigned to the second processor. According to Kuo, the AR headset will allow VR experiences owing to a pair of Sony 4K micro-OLED screens, thus producing visuals at such a quality would necessitate the performance of a strong CPU.

However, according to a previous report, to fully utilize Apple’s AR headset, it will need to be coupled with an iPhone, therefore it is unlikely that the device would function as a stand-alone product. Aside from that, both the iPhone 14 and the AR headset are said to support the Wi-Fi 6E standard, which means more bandwidth and less interference, which is critical for a good experience.

It’s almost as if Apple is building its next flagship phone family ‘out of the box ready to support the AR headset, presuming the latter comes in the fourth quarter, with the iPhone 14 series scheduled to appear in Q3, 2022.

stay tuned for more information.
