Dani Alves has completed his Barcelona medical and has officially returned to the club five years after leaving. He will join training with the team today itself. The contract agreement was reached on Friday, and the veteran has arrived at the club once again.
He will be presented to the fans on Wednesday, and has become the lowest-paid player in the squad. His base salary is the lowest as part of the first team, and he will have the chance to increase it through bonuses.
The 38-year-old has understood Barcelona’s financial difficulty and is doing everything in his power to help the club operate under these difficult circumstances.
“I’ve worked so hard all my life and now I’m here to help Barcelona grow,” Dani Alves told Barca’s television channel.
“I tried so hard to come back for a long time and to be here again with the people that know how I am is a privilege,” Alves added. “I’ll try to rescue the Barca that we all love so much. There’s no margin for error. This is a great opportunity.
“More than 50% of my winning mentality was generated in my time here. I still have a house here and part of my family lives here. It was inevitable that I came back.”
The right-back enjoyed a very illustrious first spell at Camp Nou, and has been recruited to become a mentor to the younger players at the club. His presence in the locker room will surely help restore Barcelona to their former glory in some capacity.
