Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Nuno Espirito Santo after only 17 games in charge of the club. Chairman Daniel Levy and Sporting director Fabio Pararici held a meeting yesterday to determine his fate. And now, they have decided to part ways with the Portuguese manager.
“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision,” Fabio Paratici, Spurs’ Managing Director, Football, said. “Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
Nuno and his coaching staff have all been relieved of their duties. Antonio Conte is one of the names heavily rumoured to be the replacement at Tottenham. However, it is yet to be confirmed.
Tottenham currently have the second worst defensive record in the top half of the table. Their goals have also dried up, and they have nine goals in the league so far. This is the least in the top half of the table. The main reason behind this can be attributed to Harry Kane’s poor form. Nino’s tactics have also failed to suit the style of play that Tottenham need.
According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Conte has held positive talks with the club. He is expected to return to London and sign the contract very soon. The salary and long-term contract have been discussed and he seems ready to accept the offer.
