Crystal Palace earned a shock 2-0 win against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The Eagles opened the scoring early, with Wilfried Zaha scoring his 50th Premier League goal. He was assisted by Connor Gallagher in the 6th minute, to earn the lead.
Pep Guardiola’s team was down to ten men at half-time, with Aymeric Laporte sent off. The Spain international pulled back Wilfried Zaha, who would’ve been through on goal. As a result, the referee had no choice but to instantly send him off.
There was a confrontation on the pitch at half time, and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was booked as part of it. The second half saw the visitors continue their attack on the home team. Gabriel Jesus had a goal disallowed by VAR at the hour mark, since Phil Foden was offside in the buildup.
Palace could have had more goals in the game, but a lack of clinical finishing limited them to two until the final minutes. On-loan midfielder Connor Gallagher got on the scoresheet late in the game, scoring in the 88th minute to bury the game.
Manchester City have lost at the Etihad for the first time this season. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, have picked up three big points on the road.
City are now five points behind league leaders Chelsea, but will have little time to rest. They face Club Brugge midweek in the Champions League, and will travel across the city to Old Trafford for the first Manchester derby next weekend.
