Manchester United are preparing to lose Paul Pogba on a free transfer next summer. The France international’s contract expires in June 2022, and he is yet to renew. There has been a series of updates over the past few years regarding Pogba’s status at Old Trafford.
His agent, Mino Raiola, stated that Pogba would leave the club prior to their Champions League exit against RB Leipzig last year. However, no club came forward in terms of transfers for the player his summer. Raiola recently told the Times: ‘You would have to ask Manchester United about it. At this moment everything is calm. There is no update.’
Pogba was most recently dismissed against Liverpool in the 5-0 defeat at home. The Frenchman was brought on as a substitute, but was sent off for a horrendous tackle on Naby Kieta. The Liverpool midfielder had to be stretchered off the pitch after the incident.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are the interested parties in case Pogba wants to leave. While Manchester United could sell him in January, it seems unlikely that anybody will bid for the midfielder. Pogba demands a huge salary, and both clubs will be looking to pay his salary by signing him for free next summer.
Pogba currently has the highest number of assists this season in the Premier League. The midfielder started off the season brilliantly, but has failed to make the starting lineup as of late. Following the red card incident, it seems like Manchester United are going to let the player walk out for nothing in June.
