Manchester United will have to pay £7.5 million if they sack Solskjaer

Manchester United will have to pay Ole Gunnar Solskjaer £7.5 million if they sack him. The news comes from the Sun, and they report that Solskjaer is entitled to one of the highest severance packages in England. Only Marcelo Bielsa, Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers have higher clauses.

Calls to sack Solskjaer from the fans rose massively after their 5-0 embarrassment against Liverpool. Manchester United were down to ten men in the second half, as Pogba was sent off 14 minutes after coming on. Mohamed Salah also became the first player to score a hat-trick at Manchester United in the Premier League. The only other player to do so is Ronaldo Nazario, for Real Madrid.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in charge of Manchester United since 2018. He made it to the finals of the Europa League with them last year. Moreover, he also finished second in the Premier League last year. Despite these achievements, Solskjaer is yet to win any trophy with the team.

The Norwegian completed a training session at Carrington recently, and was joined by Sir Alex Ferguson as well. The board had a meeting about his future and they agreed to give Solskjaer a second chance. The 48-year-old will be in charge for United’s game against Spurs this weekend.

He will then have the difficult task of producing good results against Atalanta and Manchester City. Solskjaer signed a three-year deal with Manchester United this summer. And now, it seems like the decision was backfired drastically.
