Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake processors launched: Here’s all you need to know

Intel has finally announced their next-gen desktop processors, finally, the 10nm based fully-fledged CPU that will set a new record performance in the consumer market. Though 11th Gen was not good for Intel, so in just a few months, literally in 7 months, Intel has brought the new 12th Gen Alder Lake processors for everyone.

Today, Pat Gelsinger has openly announced that it wants to bring back its glory and wants to be “Geeky” again, a new era for Intel. Pat has told it wants to make the developer community better and also gain the trust of you and me, the enthusiasts, the consumers!

At developer.intel.com Intel has announced a new and unified developer zone with updated drivers as well as new features. Intel has also launched OneAPI for developers with over 900 new features, an essential step to bring help them and increase their performance.

The best thing about Intel has been open and also showing at the launch event that in the past few years it had lost some of its core values. Even they made a developer video where they were open about Intel in the last few years and also Intel commemorated its first microprocessor 4004 covering 50 years.

“As the creator of the original Intel Developer Forum, it’s a great honour to once again bring together people from across the ecosystem to explore the future of technology,” said Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. “Developers are the true superheroes of the digitized world – a world which is underpinned by semiconductors. We will not rest until we’ve exhausted the periodic table, unlocking the magic of silicon and empowering developers so that, together, we can usher in a new era of innovation.”

Intel Unveils 12th Gen Intel Core, Launches World’s Best Gaming Processor, i9-12900K

Today at Intel Innovation, Intel unveiled the 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor family with the launch of six new unlocked desktop processors, including the world’s best gaming processor, the 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900K. With a max turbo boost of up to 5.2 GHz and as many as 16 cores and 24 threads, the new desktop processors reach new heights of multi-threaded performance for enthusiast gamers and professional creators.

The full 12th Gen Intel Core family will include 60 processors, set to power more than 500 designs from a broad set of partners. As detailed during Intel Architecture Day 2021, the new performance hybrid architecture, the first built on Intel 7 process, delivers scalable performance from 9 to 125 watts to enable every PC segment from ultra-thin-and-light laptops to enthusiasts desktops and out to the edge.

“The performance hybrid architecture of 12th Gen Intel Core processors is an architectural shift made possible by close co-engineering of software and hardware that will deliver new levels of leadership performance for generations,” said Gregory Bryant, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group. “This begins with the arrival of our flagship Core i9-12900K – the world’s best gaming processor – and you will see even more incredible experiences as we ship the rest of the 12th Gen family and beyond.”

The six unlocked desktop processors launched today are the first based on Intel’s performance hybrid architecture featuring a combination of Performance-cores (P-cores), the highest performing CPU core Intel has built, and Efficient-cores (E-cores), designed for scalable multi-threaded workload performance.

Availability & Pricing

All of these new Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake processors are available now for pre-order from participating OEMs, channel partners, and retailers. The broader availability or the date these CPUs will go on shelves starts on November 4th with more than 140 customers in more than 30 countries expected to add the new processors to their lineups by the end of the year.

Intel has kept the price very competitive this time as the low-end Core i5-12600KF will have a price of only $264 while their flagship Intel Core i9-12900K will cost only $589. The best part is, Intel has launched all of these new unlocked desktop processors today with more coming soon.

The Blue team also expects to ship hundreds of thousands of 12th Gen Intel Core desktop “K” processors by end of this year and more than 2 million by the end of March 2022, which is a really ambitious goal. To expand its offerings for desktop, mobile and commercial segments expected in early 2022, Intel is also shipping 28 of the processor SKUs in the 12th Gen Intel Core processor family to OEM partners.
