Barcelona are on the road to renewing the contract of sensational teenager Pedri as soon as next week. The midfielder only has one year remaining on his current deal with the club, and Barcelona have the option to extend it for another few years.
However, they are negotiating for a much better salary for the youngster, and once agreed, the contract will keep Pedri at the club until June 2026. A year after making his debut for the club, Pedri has established himself as one of the most important players in the squad. Ansu Fati is also in talks with Barcelona for a new contract, which is going very well. Pedri follows his teammate as part of the imminent contract renewals at the club.
Not only did he perform outstandingly well for Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona in the latter half of the 20/21 season, but he was also a key part of Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for the Euros. The teenager started every major game as they progressed to the semi finals, and was named the youngster of the tournament.
After the Euros, Pedri joined the Spain Olympics team and helped them win the silver medal in Tokyo before returning to Barcelona.
As of today, Pedri is in contention for the 2021 Ballon d’Or award, and is also the favourite to win the 2021 Kopa Trophy. The La Masia academy graduate is already showing signs of greatness, and could certainly go on to be one of the best in the world in his position.
