India start the World Test Championship with a huge win

India beat the Windies by 318 runs on Day 4 to take an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match series and begin their ICC World Test Championship campaign in style.

This win against the Windies is also India’s fourth biggest win (in terms of runs) in Test cricket overall.

Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets in 8 overs,by giving only 7 runs. Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets for 31, Shami took 2 wickets in his 5 overs. As India bowl out Windies for 100 in their second innings.

India declared their second innings on 343 for 7, and set 419-run target for Windies.

Ajinkya Rahane was the top scorer of the match with 81 runs in the first innings and 102 runs in the second innings. Rahane was dropped on 17, he utilised the oppertunity to the fullest.

Hanuma Vihari scored 93 runs, skipper Kohli scored a half century in the second innings. KL Rahul started the innings well but was not able to convert it into a big innings. Rahul scored 44 runs and 38 runs.

The victory saw Virat Kohli equal MS Dhoni’s record of 27 Test wins, making him the joint-most successful captain for India in Test cricket.

 Kohli added yet another feather to his cap on Sunday but this time as the captain of India after leading his team to a 318-run win over the West Indies in the first Test in Antigua.
