India’s 19-medal tally at the Paralympic Games is their best ever performance in any competition

After breaking the personal record for the most number of qualifying athletes, India have surpassed all expectations when it comes to success at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

The Indian para-athletes have won 19 medals in total, putting them within the top 25 countries with the most medals at the Games. The distribution is 5 gold medals, 8 silvers and 6 bronze medals.

India’s performance at the 2020 Paralympic Games is their best ever in an international multi-sport event. The previous record was 13 at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. The previous best for the para-athletes was 4 medals throughout the tournament, and they have surpassed that record by a huge margin.

Here is the list of every Indian athlete that managed to earn a medal at the Games:

  • Avani Lekhara – Gold – Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1

The Indian Olympics team returned with 7 medals in total, and the para-athletes have clearly highlighted that they too, are capable of such stellar achievements.
