After Day three it looked like Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli had brought India back into the test match. However, that didn’t seem to be the case on day four as the Indian middle-order collapsed badly and as a result, England have won the third test and equalised the series.
Getting into details of today’s play, Pujara and Kohli continued their respective innings on day four. England had just taken the new ball and were looking to get some early breakthroughs. Whereas Indian fans were hoping that Pujara and Kohli negate the new ball and repeat what they did on the previous day.
Although a mental error by Pujara cost him as Robinson trapped him in front of the wicket in the 84th over. Thus Cheteshwar Pujara missed out on a well deserved century by nine runs. Soon after Pujara and Virat Kohli’s wicket, the lower middle order collapsed very quickly. Anderson dismissed Rahane for 9 and Pant’s nightmare of a series continued as he nicked one ball to the third slip on 1. Although Jadeja tried to show some resistance as he scored a quick 30 but as he started losing partners, the all-rounder also perished. Consequently, Overton picked the final wicket of Siraj and England took their revenge by humiliating India in Headingly, Leeds.
