Chelsea continued their impressive start to the 21/22 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates. Romelu Lukaku made his second Chelsea debut in the London derby as the Blues dispatched their city rivals.
It only took Lukaku 15 minutes to score his first Chelsea goal as he tapped in a cross from Reece James from the right flank, after leaving Pablo Mari in the dirt with a strong run into the box.
The second goal of the game was scored shortly after, and this time, Reece James went on the scoresheet himself. Marcos Alonso and Kai Havertz showed great control on the left wing to keep the ball away from the Arsenal players, and after finding himself in a world of space, James powerfully struck the ball past Leno to double their lead.
The Blues dominated the first half by creating several chances. However, the Gunners grew into the game in the second half and gave Chelsea a tough time on the back foot. However, the trio of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen helped keep their second clean sheet of the season as well.
Arsenal were exposed constantly on the right side, with Bukayo Saka having trouble tracking back. Although the teenager took a great attempt at goal, he was denied by an acrobatic Edouard Mendy. Chelsea have made it 2 out of 2, while Arsenal fall for the second consecutive time with no points from two games.
