Carlo Ancelotti has denied claims of him reportedly wanting to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid. The Italian manager took to Twitter in an unusual occurrence and denied the reports himself.
Ancelotti tweeted: ‘Cristiano is a Real Madrid legend and he has all my love and respect. I have never considered signing him. We look forward. #HalaMadrid’
The player’s future has been the subject of heavy speculation this summer. Due to Juventus missing out on the Serie A title last season, there were rumours that he could try to leave the club this summer. However, Juventus have confirmed that they have not received any bid for the Portuguese forward. He is also not in talks with the Bianconeri to extend his deal any further.
As of now, his current contract expires in 2022, and he will be available for free next summer. Manchester City were linked with his signature this summer, but his connection to rivals United and City’s focus on Harry Kane makes it a rather unrealistic transfer to go through at any given point.
Real Madrid are planning on signing a forward, but it is expected to be Kylian Mbappe instead of their highest ever goalscorer. The Frenchman also has a year remaining on his contract, and could force a move out of the French capital this summer if he doesn’t wish to continue.
As of now, PSG are not interested in signing Ronaldo either since they just signed Lionel Messi and are satisfied with the way their squad is laid out ahead of the new season.
