Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Donyell Malen from PSV Eindhoven for £26 million. The Dutch forward has agreed on a five-year deal with the German club until 2026.
The deal represents another great investment by Dortmund in the transfer market since Malen is a prolific young attacker with a lot of potential to develop. Although he is a centre forward, he is the replacement for Jadon Sancho, who was recently announced as a Manchester United player for £73 million.
‘Borussia Dortmund is a top European club that is always at the top of the Bundesliga and also has high demands on itself in the Champions League,’ Malen told the club website.
‘I can hardly wait to be on the pitch with my new teammates, to be able to measure myself against the best. And of course I’m looking forward to the fans and the stadium that all of Europe raves about.’
BVB chief Michael Zorc added: ‘Donyell is a player with great offensive potential, who exudes goal danger, brings his creativity to the table and has a high speed.’
With Erling Haaland, Donyell Malen and Youssufa Moukoko at the club, Dortmund have three very exciting young forwards at hand and much like their transfer history, could make a huge profit on all three in the future.
Malen is a confident goalscorer and achieved great numbers in the Eredivisie for PSV. The step up to Germany suits his style of play, and will hopefully push him to the next level.
