Can there be any cons for signing a world class defender for €50 million? Not quite, but when you consider that Varane only had one year left on his contract, a lot of people have commented that Manchester United overpaid. On the financial front, Manchester United have sunk further into negative transfer debt.

United now have the partner for Harry Maguire that they have been looking for. Varane was rumoured for the last few seasons, and he is now on his way to England. Varane brings a lot of experience at the top level to the club. He has won everything there is to win playing club football, and was a part of the 2018 World Cup winning France squad.
