Samsung’s revolutionary Exynos 2200 CPU is the chipset which the South Korean tech giant is reportedly developing in collaboration with AMD. As reported earlier the new chip from Samsung will have an AMD RDNA2 GPU for top-notch graphics performance. Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil its new flagship smartphone SoC in the coming months and according to the latest sources, the new Exynos 2200 will have a 6-core GPU.
Previously, Ice Universe on Weibo stated both the chipset and GPU codenames in his leak, and now, the same leaker states that Samsung’s upcoming flagship chipset will sport a 6-core GPU. However, if this news is indeed true then it means that the new processor will be inferior to the Exynos 2100 that features a 14-core Mali-G78 GPU.
But, it does not necessarily mean that the chip will be inferior to its predecessor. I mean, after all, Apple’s A14 Bionic only has a 4-core GPU, and let’s not forget, that little beast is currently the fastest performer in the market at this time. So, that concludes that core counts don’t affect the overall performance of the chipset.
In previous leaks, when the 6-core AMD RDNA2 GPU was tested against Apple’s A14 Bionic, the AMD GPU crushed its opponent in GPU tests. Even Samsung’s Snapdragon 888 obtained 50 percent fewer points than the Exynos 2200. And Qualcomm’s rumored Snapdragon 895 is also reported to pale against the Exynos 2200.
