Xiaomi started its phase 2 of building Automatic Smart Factory

Xiaomi has begun the implementation of its ambitious project – the creation of a factory for the production of smartphones Smart Factory. The main feature of the enterprise will be total robotization, designed to minimize the use of human labour.

According to brand analysts, using the capacity of the new plant, the company will eventually be able to count on the release of one smartphone every three seconds in automatic mode. Such productivity will be achieved gradually, and the enterprise will be able to work around the clock, seven days a week.

According to the source, the plant will cover an area of about 58 thousand square meters. It will be equipped with an intelligent production line that will assemble smartphones and cell phones in a full cycle – from placing SMT boards to packaging finished devices. Automation will be able to test both individual parts and the assembled device as a whole.

By the way, this is the second automated plant of the Chinese giant – the first is located in Yizhuang and was built not for mass production, but for special projects. However, the new Beijing Xiaomi Smart Factory Phase 2 will be 10 times more powerful than the previous one and will be able to produce up to 10 million smartphones per year. The total cost of the automated factory is estimated at 60 billion yuan (or $ 9.3 billion).

CEO Lei Jun shared additional details on his plans. According to him, the preliminary project was developed and approved in just 84 days – Xiaomi began construction as soon as it received the rights to the land. The Xiaomi Smart Factory Phase 2 in Beijing is expected to be fully completed by 2023.
