The European Championship is held every four years since its inception in 1960. The only exception is Euro 2020, as it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was held this year as Italy emerged as the Champions.
The tournament was originally called the European Nations’ Cup and was later changed to the current name in 1968. The Euros are scheduled to be held in the even-numbered year between FIFA World Cup tournaments.
