Barcelona has officially confirmed the departure of Carles Alena to Getafe on a permanent transfer. Getafe has paid the Blaugrana €5 million for the player. The club has also confirmed that they have included a 50% buyback clause in his contract.
The youngster has signed a five-year deal with Getafe and joins Konrad de la Fuente, Junior Firpo, Jean-Clair Todibo and Francisco Trincao on the other way out of the club.
Alena has signed a five-year deal with his new club and is expected to be a great prospect for the club’s future, especially because Barcelona already has a ton of young midfielders competing for game time.
“FC Barcelona would like to thank Carles Aleñá for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future. Barcelona and Getafe CF have reached an agreement for the transfer of Carles Aleñá. Barça reserves the right to 50% of any future sale of the player, a buyback option plus first right of refusal on any offer.” announced Barcelona on their official website.
The midfielder made his debut for Barcelona in the 2016/17 season against Hercules in the Copa del Rey. He scored the only game of the match in the 1-0 victory and made 43 appearances in a Barcelona shirt. He spent the latter half of the 20/32 season on loan with Getafe and is now a permanent member of their squad.
