Tottenham Hotspur finally have a new head coach in Nuno Espirito Santo, and they can now start dealing with their summer business. Their priority, of course, is retaining Harry Kane after the player announced his desire to leave the club in search of Champions League football.
According to Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, Spurs’ new sporting director Fabio Paratici said in his first interview that he and the club would fight till the last day to keep Harry Kane at the club. The player still has a few years left on his current deal, and Spurs have set a huge price tag on his head, worth around £150 million that is very difficult to match.
Once the Euros are over, and Kane is back from his vacation, the club will sit down and describe the project to him. He will then make the decision of whether or not forcing the transfer is necessary. But, Tottenham are prepared for any outcome that the England captain decides to go with.
Spurs will sign a new centre-back this summer, Romano went on to say. And according to him, Maxence Lacroix of Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and Sevilla’s Joules Kounde are the two potential targets. However, Fabio Paratici works on a lot of targets at the same time before making a decision, and this will surely be the same process.
The list of players is kept relatively long and a decision will be made a few weeks into the transfer market when the preseason is underway.
