What Is the Story About?

Ansh Sikka has worked abroad for years and finally given his middle-class Punjabi parents a swanky new high-rise apartment. But when he comes home for Diwali, he finds that a new address doesn’t automatically bring a fresh start. Upgrading your parents’ house is one thing, he learns, and changing their idea of what “home” means is another. It’s a warm, relatable look at love, generational gaps and what truly makes a family happy.

Meet the Cast

Mihir Ahuja, known for The Archies, plays Ansh. He says the story comes from a place of love and shows how families sometimes forget to ask what truly makes their parents happy. Manoj Pahwa plays Ansh’s father, marking his sixth Netflix Original appearance, and he notes that for parents, home is about memories rather than walls or furniture. Neelu Kohli plays the mother, and Aurra Bhatnagar Badoni plays the younger sister.

Why Is It So Short?

Last Diwali, Netflix India tested the format with Greater Kalesh, a 52-minute family film also written by Ritu Mago. It reached the global non-English movies top 10 in its first week. That success led Netflix to expand into Original films running 60 to 85 minutes, aimed at viewers with limited time and at young creators exploring stories that don’t suit a three-hour film. Dilwali Diwali is the first result of that plan.

Should You Watch It?

If you like heartfelt family dramas and want a festive watch that won’t take your whole evening, this is a good pick. It’s also easy to share with parents and grandparents, since the themes are familiar to many Indian households.
