Two detectives, two countries and one chilling case. Netflix’s upcoming crime series The Blue Road has just dropped its main poster and teaser, and the mood is dark from the very first frame. If you enjoy gripping thrillers with an international twist, this is one to bookmark.
What Is The Blue Road About?
Directed by Han Jun Hee, known for the D.P. series and the film Coin Locker Girl, the drama follows two detectives tracking a series of murders that span Korea and Japan. Son Suk Ku plays Kim Seok, a detective from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Nagayama Eita plays Inose, a detective from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.
The Poster: A Hint of 2002
The poster shows both detectives in intense poses, with signs of Japan and Korea behind them, suggesting a joint cross-border investigation. It also shows citizens draped in the South Korean flag and wearing red cheering outfits, which recalls the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup. The tagline promises brutal murders across borders and a twisted truth waiting underneath. That sets up a historical backdrop that adds real curiosity about the case.
Inside the Teaser
The trailer opens with a young girl picking up a mysterious packet of medicine before an unknown attacker abducts her. Next comes a discovered corpse with broken limbs. Kim Seok reaches out to team up, but Inose shuts him down, saying he only needs to catch the culprit no matter what. Clearly, these two have different styles, and their partnership will not be smooth.
The teaser also shows a mysterious man in a headset listening to the sound of breaking bones, leaving his identity a puzzle.
The Blue Road: Key Characters to Watch
| Actor | Character | Who They Are |
|---|---|---|
| Son Suk Ku | Kim Seok | Seoul detective |
| Nagayama Eita | Inose | Tokyo detective |
| Kim Shin Rock | Lee Yoon Ok | Korean-descent businesswoman in Japan |
| Jung Jae Young | Seo Hyun Tae | Powerful figure in Japan’s underworld |
| Choi Sung Eun | Yoon Soo Kyung | NIS agent at odds with Inose |
Why It Looks Promising?
The mix of a cross-border case, clashing partners and a shadowy killer gives the series plenty of tension. Add strong supporting characters who could each shape the investigation, and the story has many angles to explore. Whether the detectives can work together may matter as much as catching the culprit.
Release Date
The Blue Road arrives on Netflix on November 20. Watch the teaser, then catch Son Suk Ku in Troll Factory or Nagayama Eita in Even if You Don’t Do It while you wait.
