Why 2019 is the best time to upgrade your RAM?

South Korea is a very technologically advanced company, and two of its biggest assets has to be Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. In fact, they are among the top contributors to memory and storage devices, and as per Digitimes Research, both these companies have experienced an increase in sales this year.

So, as per the latest report by Digitimes, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix’s combined sales of memory products (mainly DRAM and NAND flash chips) have increased 16.7% sequentially to US$23.3 billion in the Q2 2021.

It is estimated that both these companies would register double-digit sequential increases in the second quarter of this year, thanks to increasing demand.

The NAND flash revenue is estimated to grow 10% sequentially in Q2, following two consecutive quarters of sequential drops for both Samsung and SK Hynix. At the same time, their combined NAND flash revenue grew 15.3% sequentially in the second quarter.

Coming to DRAM, Samsung and SK Hynix’s combined revenue represented a 17.4% sequential surge in Q2 2021. This is, in fact, a good sign as it seems the memory market has bounced back again after the pandemic, and as upcoming AMD & Intel motherboards will support DDR5 RAMs, the demand will grow even further.

It is also being reported that both Samsung and SK Hynix will be adopting EUV technology in their 10nm class DRAM manufacturing, and the production slated to kick off later in 2021.
