Signal Season 2 Release Date: tvN Says “Nothing Confirmed” After December 7 Premiere Report

Is The Second Signal finally coming back? A fresh report claims a December premiere, but tvN is keeping things cautious. Here’s what’s known, and what isn’t.

Signal Season 2: Report vs. Reality

What the Report Says

On October 25, Korean outlet MyDaily reported that The Second Signal, the long-awaited sequel to the hit 2016 drama, would debut on December 7. It said the show had first been planned for November 30, but was pushed back a week, with the first two episodes now set to air together.

That same morning, tvN replied with a short statement: nothing has been confirmed about the drama’s programming. In other words, treat December 7 as a rumor for now.

Why Has It Been Delayed?

The sequel was originally meant to premiere in June as part of tvN’s 20th anniversary celebrations. It was put on hold after controversy surrounding actor Cho Jin Woong. In December of last year, reports revealed a juvenile criminal record from his school days, along with disclosures about adult incidents, including an assault-related dispute and a drunk driving record. He acknowledged responsibility and announced his retirement, which left the drama’s future uncertain.

What Will Happen to His Scenes?

The production team considered several options, such as using AI technology or editing him out. In the end, it reportedly decided to air his scenes without any such changes.

What Fans Should Do Now

Wait for an official announcement. Until tvN publishes a schedule, dates can easily shift. If you’re new to the franchise, this is a good time to revisit the original series.
