Some stories are hard to watch because they’re true. Netflix’s new Colombian limited series, Under Siege, tackles one of the darkest days in the country’s modern history. It lands on November 6, 2026, and Netflix has already released an official trailer, according to What’s on Netflix.

The Real Story Behind It
The series is inspired by the Palace of Justice siege. On November 6, 1985, an M-19 guerrilla commando stormed the Palace of Justice in Bogotá and took more than 300 people hostage, including Supreme Court justices. The next day, the Colombian Army retook the building.
According to Netflix’s synopsis, the events left at least 94 people dead or disappeared. That toll includes justices, guerrilla members, civilians and military personnel.

More Than the Siege Itself
The show doesn’t stop when the shooting does. It also follows the victims’ families as they fight for justice for more than 20 years. That long aftermath gives the story an emotional weight beyond a standard hostage thriller.
Netflix describes the series as inspired by real and publicly known events, so expect a drama built on history rather than a documentary.
Who’s in the Cast?
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Natalia Reyes | Pilar Navarrete |
| Carlos Manuel Vesga | Colonel (Ret.) Alfonso Plazas Vega |
| Robinson Diaz | Belisario Betancur |
| Luna Baxter | Olga Behar |
| Santiago Alarcón | Alfonso Reyes Echandía |
| Nicolás Montero | Jaime Castro |
The full cast is large, which fits a story with so many people caught in the same event. Reyes is known internationally from Terminator: Dark Fate and Netflix’s A Father’s Miracle. Vesga has appeared in Netflix projects including The Hijacking of Flight 601 and The Snitch: Cartel Origins.
Why It’s Worth Watching?
- A rare spotlight. Netflix’s Colombian slate often leans on cartel stories, and this one centers on justice and memory instead.
- A strong creative team. Three directors and a five-person writing team suggest a carefully built, multi-angle story.
- A short commitment. Eight episodes make it easy to finish in a weekend.
