Some Hearthstone cards reward careful planning. Then there’s Yogg-Saron, the card you play when you’re ready to let fate judge your plan. Reign of the Black Empire is Hearthstone’s newest expansion, and it drags Azeroth’s Old Gods back into the spotlight.

Four Gods, Four Abilities Each
The setting is Azeroth’s darkest age, before the heroes, when the Old Gods ruled and the Titan-forged fought back. The expansion adds four neutral Legendary Old Gods, and you can run only one per deck.
Each Old God has four abilities. Instead of attacking, it can use two per turn, and each ability works only once per game. Once all four are spent, the god can finally attack. Choosing which powers to use, and in what order, becomes part of the strategy.

Assemble: Build Your Own Minion
The new Assemble keyword adds a minion to your hand, then swaps part of its text with that of another minion from a curated pool. A battlecry might turn into an “on turn end” effect, or a shield-granting effect might become damage. Deck tinkerers will have plenty to experiment with.
Mastermind Yogg-Saron: The Ultimate Gamble
Yogg has a long, chaotic history in Hearthstone, from random spell storms to the infamous Rod of Roasting. This time, its Battlecry ends your turn and lets Yogg take an extra turn on your behalf, once per game. You gain a bonus turn, but you give up control. It could be a comeback, or a disaster. That is the fun.
Journey and Rewards
The new Journey mode brings story scenes, quests and rewards inside the Hearthstone Journal. Complete each of the seven weekly parts to earn one Reign of the Black Empire pack, seven in total. Earlier parts stay available, so you can catch up. You can read Blizzard’s official announcement or learn more about the game on Hearthstone on Wikipedia.
