Sergio Ramos’ contract with Real Madrid officially expired at midnight on June 30, and he is now without a club for the first time in 16 years. The first official day of the transfer window brings news about the centre-back’s next club.
According to numerous sources, Ramos has accepted a two-year contract offered by PSG and medical examinations are set to be held in the next few days. The player has reportedly started house hunting in Paris as of right now, and his brother was in the city to accept the offer from the club.
The former Madrid skipper wanted two more years with Real Madrid, but according to club policy, they would only offer him one more year. While the player did eventually consider accepting the offer, the offer came with an expiry date and Ramos was past that. He has also rejected two offers from Premier League clubs before choosing Paris.
Even though it is almost inconceivable to imagine Ramos playing in a club shirt that does not belong to Real Madrid, he is expected to wear Parisian colours next season. He becomes the third free agent to be recruited by PSG, having already negotiated the signings of Gigio Donnarumma and Gini Wijnaldum.
With Achraf Hakimi also expected to join the club this summer, the French club could field an absolutely unstoppable lineup. When you also consider the fact that they have some of the best players at the club already, 2022 could finally be the year that PSG lift the Champions League.
